Substack Post Generator

The Substack Post Generator recreates a Substack newsletter post the way it looks on a phone in 2026: the publication header with its rounded logo, accent-coloured Subscribe button and Sign in link, the grey “Read distraction-free on Substack” banner, the big bold title and grey subtitle, the uppercase author byline with the date and an optional · PAID tag, the outlined Listen button, Spectral body text, and the bottom like, comment, restack and share bar with full comma-separated counts. Pick the publication's accent colour and page tint, swap the heading font for Lora, Roboto Slab or a heavy sans, add a “This post is for paid subscribers” or free-trial paywall, or switch to the Substack app reader or a Substack Note in light or dark mode. Everything runs in your browser, with no account and no uploads.

The publication page as an iPhone visitor sees it in Safari.

Publication pages have no reader dark mode. For a dark page pick the “Dark” page background (publications such as SemiAnalysis use one), or switch to the app or Note view.

About 15 characters fit beside the logo before the header truncates it.

32px square, 8px corners. No logo puts the name flush left.

Subscribe button, paywall and links.

“White (default)” is a publication with no background set; “White (set)” uses Substack's lighter grey for secondary text.

34 / 140 — about 20 characters per line.

Blank line = new paragraph. Wrap text in [brackets] for an accent link or *asterisks* for italics.

Names are joined with “and” (three become “A, B, and C”). Authors without a photo show no avatar, and with three authors Substack hides every avatar.

Shown in capitals. Substack uses “MMM DD, YYYY” (zero-padded day) or “N hours ago” within a day.

Shown in full with commas (38,454), as Substack does. Zero hides the number.

The paywall follows your body text, which becomes the free preview.

Tip: switch Capture to “Full content” to see everything below the fold.

Insert the accent-filled paid-subscribers paywall, the 7-day free-trial version, the “Continue reading in the Substack app” unlock card or a white card, plus the Subscribe email box, the likes facepile and the pill-style like, comment, restack and Share row.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Substack Post Generator free?

Yes. It is completely free with no login, no account and no export limits. A Pro option removes the watermark and doubles the export resolution.

Is it legal to make a fake Substack post?

Clearly fictional mockups are fine for design comps, pitches, education, satire and planning your own newsletter. Do not impersonate real writers or publications, present a mockup as a real post, or use one to mislead readers, and respect Substack's trademarks.

Can I match my newsletter's accent colour?

Yes. Pick one of the preset accents taken from real publications or enter any hex colour. It colours the Subscribe button, the paywall, the email box and links in the body text, exactly as a publication's theme does.

Is there a dark mode?

Substack publication pages have no dark mode, so the mobile-web view is always light. The Substack app reader and the Note view both support dark mode, using the colours of Substack's own dark theme.

How does Substack show like counts?

Substack prints full numbers with thousands separators, such as 1,284 or 38,454, rather than abbreviations like 38K. A count of zero hides the number, and the generator follows the same rules.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. The generator runs in any modern mobile or desktop browser, so you can build and download a Substack post mockup straight from your phone.
