Medium Article Generator

The Medium Article Generator recreates the top of a Medium story the way it looks on a phone in 2026: the Sign up · Sign in row, the Medium wordmark with search and avatar, the publication strip with its underlined Follow publication link, the rounded ★ Member-only story and Featured labels, topic tags with their + buttons, the big bold title and grey subtitle, the “9 min read · 4 days ago” line, the author row with a Follow pill and optional verified badge, the Listen and Share pills, a hero image with caption, the first paragraph in Medium's serif with an optional drop cap or green top highlight, and the clap, response, repost and bookmark bar at the bottom. Switch to the wider tablet and desktop header with its clap bar between two hairlines, or the classic 2024 byline with “Name · Follow” and “Published in”, in light or dark mode. Everything runs in your browser, with no account and no uploads.

74 / 140 — wraps freely, about 18 characters per line on a phone.

4 / 5 tags. Leave empty to hide the row.

Shown in the strip under the nav (cut off past 150px on phones).

A number becomes “N min read”.

Medium’s rule: under 7 days shows “N days ago”; older stories show “Oct 9, 2026”.

Plain numbers are shortened the way Medium does it (2400 → 2.4K, 61234 → 61K). A count of 0 is hidden. Reposts only show in the phone’s bottom bar.

Blank line = new paragraph. **bold**, *italic*, [underlined link](url), `code`. Start a paragraph with ## for a section heading or > for a quote.

Shaded green, like the passage most readers highlighted.

Today’s phone layout: label pills, topic tags, Listen / Share pills, sticky bottom bar.

Medium Article Generator features

Three real Medium layouts

Choose today's phone layout with label pills, topic tags and a sticky bottom bar, the 728px tablet and desktop header with the clap / response / repost bar between hairlines, or the classic 2023–2025 byline with the green Follow link and “Published in”.

Every story detail

Edit the title, subtitle (italic too), up to five topic tags, the Member-only star, Featured and “Sent as a Newsletter” labels, read time, and the date, with a helper that follows Medium's own “4 days ago” versus “Oct 9, 2026” rule.

Authors and publications

Upload and crop the author photo, toggle the Follow pill and blue verified badge, and add a publication with its Follow publication link, Following state, or the classic layout's logo badge.

Hero image and story text

Use a sample photo or upload your own at its original shape or 3:2, 16:9, 4:3 or 1:1, place it below the byline or at the very top, add a caption, and write the opening paragraphs with bold, a drop cap and a green top highlight.

High-resolution PNG export

Export the phone screen or the full story as a sharp PNG rendered entirely client-side, with matched stand-ins for Medium's Söhne and Source Serif fonts embedded.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Medium Article Generator free?

Yes. It is completely free with no login, no account and no export limits. A Pro option removes the watermark and doubles the export resolution.

Is it legal to make a fake Medium article?

Clearly fictional mockups are fine for design comps, pitches, education, satire and planning your own stories. Do not impersonate real writers or publications, present a mockup as a real post, or use one to mislead readers, and respect Medium's trademarks.

How does Medium show the publish date?

Medium shows “Just now” for the first hour, “N hours ago” for the first day, “N days ago” for up to six days, and the full date, such as Oct 9, 2026, from day seven on. The date helper in the editor follows the same rule.

Can I make a Member-only story?

Yes. Switch on Member-only to add the yellow ★ Member-only story label. In the phone and tablet layouts it is a rounded pill next to Featured; in the classic layout it is the inline star above the title.

Is there a dark mode?

Yes. Every layout has a light and a dark theme that use Medium's own colours, including the dark grey page, the light text and the dark green top highlight.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. The generator runs in any modern mobile or desktop browser, so you can build and download a Medium article mockup straight from your phone.
