Breaking News Generator

The Breaking News Generator lets you build a realistic, clearly fictional TV news banner in seconds. Write the headline, set the red BREAKING NEWS flag, add a ticker line, a LIVE bug, a clock and a location strip, upload your own footage or use the built-in studio backdrop, then pick a red, blue or amber broadcast theme. Everything renders in your browser at true 16:9 and exports as a crisp high-resolution PNG with no login, so creators, editors, teachers and designers can mock up a convincing lower third fast.

Breaking News Generator features

Authentic lower-third stack

A slanted, blocked or stacked BREAKING NEWS flag butts straight into a deep navy headline bar, exactly the way 24-hour news packages weld their graphics to the bottom edge.

Ticker strip with a leading tag

Add a DEVELOPING, JUST IN, ALERT or EXCLUSIVE tag chip plus running sentence-case copy, with diamond separators inserted automatically between clauses.

Your own footage or a studio backdrop

Upload and crop a photo that sits under the banner with broadcast-style grading, or leave it empty for a cool blue-grey newsroom gradient with soft key lights.

LIVE bug, clock and location

Toggle the LIVE pill with its bright tally dot, a tabular-figure clock chip, a location line and an updated stamp, plus an optional two-tier reporter row.

Three broadcast colour themes

Switch between Breaking Red, Newsroom Blue and Alert Amber. Each swaps the flag gradient, accent rule, headline ground and tag chip so the contrast stays correct.

How to make a breaking news mockup

  1. 1

    Add your backdrop

Upload a photo and crop it, pick one of the built-in samples, or leave it blank to use the studio gradient.

  2. 2

    Write the headline

Type the headline and flag label. The type size steps down automatically as the headline gets longer, just like on air.

  3. 3

    Set the ticker and bugs

Add the tag and running ticker text, then set the network name, LIVE bug, clock, location and updated stamp.

  4. 4

    Export your PNG

Choose a banner theme, preview the 16:9 frame live and download a high-resolution PNG for video, slides or social.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Breaking News Generator free to use?

Yes. You can build and export fake breaking news banners for free with no account or sign-up required. A Pro option adds watermark-free exports and higher resolution.

Is it safe and legal to make a fake news banner?

Clearly fictional news graphics are fine for memes, films, classroom exercises, design comps and video projects. Never present one as a real bulletin, and never use a real broadcaster name, logo or brand colours, which are trademarked.

Which network name should I use?

The tool defaults to the invented network MIMIC NEWS 24 on purpose. Keep it fictional or use your own brand. Real broadcaster wordmarks and logos are protected and should not be recreated.

Can I upload my own footage?

Yes. Upload any image, crop and zoom it in the dialog, and it renders under the banner with the darkening and desaturation real packages apply. Your image stays on your device and is never uploaded.

Does it export a high-resolution PNG?

Yes. The frame is captured at a high pixel ratio and exported as a sharp 16:9 PNG that stays crisp as a video overlay, on retina screens and in printed comps.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. The generator runs entirely in any modern mobile or desktop browser, so you can build and download a news banner straight from your phone.
